TIPS AND OTHER VALUABLE INFORMATION

• Cut your main water supply off when going on vacation or long trips in case a leak occurs while you're away.
  
• Replace those rubber washing machine hoses with braided metal hoses, especially if your laundry area is in the living area of your home. That's because rubber hoses can get brittle and dry out, and eventually rupture, causing leaks or worse, floods.
  
• Check for water or moisture in the crawl space, as well as for water leaks in the basement or in the attic.
  
• Insulate pipes in unheated areas, such as garages or crawl spaces.
  
• Remove and clean your faucet aerators annually to ensure an even flow of water.
  
• Make sure overflow holes on tubs and vanity are clear and open to prevent water damage to floors and ceilings.
  
• Stop annoying water hammer noises by installing shock absorbers that absorb vibrations in water lines.
  
• Do not rinse fats or cooking oils down the drain. Liquid fats solidify in the cold drains pipes and create clogs.
  
• Run cold water down the drain for 15 seconds before and after using the garbage disposer to flush waste through the line.
  
• Clear leaves and debris from outside downspouts to ensure easy drainage when water freezes and thaws throughout the winter season.
